Rebecca Manteria

My Name is Rebecca Manteria I am the Spanish teacher at Notre Dame Academy for grades 1-8, and the religion teacher for grades 6-8. I have been teaching for 15 years and have always taught in private schools. This is my tenth year at Notre Dame Academy. I am also a mom to two boys of elementary school age. I was born and raised in Galicia, Spain. Spanish is my first language and I still use it to communicate with my family. I came to the United States at the age of ten and now try to visit my homeland as much as I can. I learned English as a second language in elementary school. I attended Catholic college and always knew I wanted to be a teacher. I love working with children.

My goal is to develop the skills of listening, speaking, reading, writing through the use of learned vocabulary and grammatical concepts. I would like for the girls to have an understanding and appreciation of Spanish and Latin American culture. In religion classes, I hope to promote knowledge of the Catholic faith and teach the basics of the faith as revealed in the signs of creation, sacred scripture, Catholic tradition, and human experience.
